AEDM - Day 7

Welcome to Day 7 of Art Every Day Month!
Day 1, 2345, & 6.

I've been working on this project for the past week and I'm so thrilled with how it turned out!

Aren't they so cute, if I do say so myself? ;-) I decided that this year instead of traditional Christmas colors I would finally create a pink themed Christmas. White and fuchsia pink with touches of silver. Lately I've been loving turquoise so it made complete sense to add that to the mix. I came across these on Girl. Inspired. and thought I'd do my own version for my girly-themed Christmas.

These are the medium and small sized paper mache houses from Hobby Lobby. They also have a large size or you can buy the set online. I painted each house inside and out similar to the color glitter I planned to use. Once dry I worked in sections by adding a layer of Mod Podge and then shaking on the glitter and tapping off.

For the pink house, I added a pipe cleaner around the door with hot glue and added a silver ball trim swag around the house. The banner was made from vintage book pages, a scallop punch, dot detail with Ranger Liquid Pearls in white opal, and a blast of Glimmer Mist in pearl. The folded scallops were hot glued to a sequin trim and hung in a swag around the front and sides of the house.

For the turquoise house, I wanted a snow-effect on the roof so I applied DecoArt Snow-Tex with a small paintbrush before the top portion was glittered. A pipe cleaner was added around the doorway and around the house. Snowflake decorative buttons were laced around the pipe cleaner before it was hot glued.

The small Christmas trees were purchased from Hobby Lobby in the dollhouse section. They were green but I soaked them in a bleach water solution to strip the color. It also removed the snow from them so I again used the Snow-Tex. The decorations for the scene were all purchased from the dollar store. The felt drape had red and green glitter on it so I used a can of faux snow to cover. Messy but fun. Picture in your mind a mini white Christmas tree decorated in the same colors next to this scene once I begin my Christmas decorating.

I hope you like my glittery, girly take on Christmas!

These are adorable! So creative! I love the work around solutions you came up with regarding altering color of trees, etc. This will be beautiful next to your tree!

Great work :)
