to bloom and unfold

vibrant shades of red

seeping through each petal

sprouts from the dark, rich soil

Smell

whiffs of sweet, sugary succulence

swirl with each inhalation

the lovely aroma lingers

Taste

luscious, soft petals

tingling each taste bud

with sweet, juicy goodness

Know

miraculous wonder of the world

is the captivating rose

as I too, a blooming miracle

Inner Excavate-Along :: Chapter 1

I purchased Liz Lamoreux's book Inner Excavation when it was first released but I never had a chance to completely dive into the goodness. I was thrilled when she started her read along, Inner Excavate-Along in June but didn't have time to get started on it until now. You can jump in at any time and work at your on pace. What I've been up to

I'm still working in my art journal but it looks like I'll have to start a new one soon. There are so many completed pages that my scans are starting to blur in the middle. Not a bad predicament to be in. :-)

These pages were created mostly with washi tape and inspired by Donna Downey's Collage Monday. I like how it turned out but you can't really tell from this scan.

I made this one with Neocolor crayons.

This was a technique I learned from Christy Tomlinson's last class using sprays and stencils.

Child's Play

I had a great weekend spending time with my son and enjoying some free spirited play. There’s nothing better than taking your heavy coat of adulthood off and letting loose. Forget the to-do’s and deadlines and just have fun. Laser tag? Yup! Maze of mirrors? Yes, please! Animated movie? Of course!

I can’t think of anything, short of a trip to the spa, that recharges me more than child’s play. Laughing and playing with delight and total abandon. It’s exactly what I needed to feel alive and free. Enjoying the company of the ones I love most. That is truly living.
