Quote - Discovering

In the process of discovering our true nature, the journey goes down, not up, as if the mountain pointed toward the earth instead of the sky. We move down and down and down, and with us move millions of others, our companions in awakening…Right there we discover a love that will not die.  ~Pema Chodron

Poetry in Motion

I am poetry in motion
Twisting, turning, spinning
Out of bounds and out of control
Twirling, whirling, spiraling
I gather
I collect
Words of wisdom
Words that feel good
Words that feel
Right
I am poetry in motion
Bending, rotating, revolving

Find Your Balance

Lately this theme keeps showing up. Balance. Emerging from the numerous words printed on the pages of vision work sources. I've heard many people dismiss balance and declare it as nonexistent but I'm not so sure that this is true.

I believe that balance is difficult to obtain and maintain but I do think it's possible. I also believe it must be reevaluated often and the metaphorical sails readjusted periodically. Reaching a balanced life will require noticing what is and isn't working and tossing out the items that are no longer serving me. I have to access my top priorities and release the less important.

What is important to me?

What do I value the most in my life?

Sometimes these items have to be scheduled so that a commitment can be made. Letting go of the excess will give way to a sense of freedom. A spring cleaning, if you will. Out with the old and in with that which brings me peace.

Poetry Inspiration

Since Feast Retreat, poetry has become a touchstone in my life. I've been writing poetry since I was a preteen but I let it go at some point in my adult life. It brought up too many unhappy moments that I no longer wished to dwell on. Now I'm learning how to live in the moment and write about the little things that make me happy. I'm no David Whyte but I thoroughly enjoy exploring my softer side.

When I returned from my trip, I dived head first into the book poemcrazy by Susan Goldsmith Wooldridge. I was also inspired by Liz Lamoreux, one of the Feast guides, to create word tickets. These are "Admit One" tickets or tags pasted with printed or cut out words of inspiration (page 17 in poemcrazy). Gather the tickets and weave the words into a melodious mix. Here are my word tickets:

One of the prompts Susan uses often is, "I am." This inspired me to create a continuous "I am" poem in a journal using words swiped from various magazines.

Here are a few pages from this journal:

This was quite a find and powerful enough to have it's own page:

This journal called "Poem Catcher" houses my newly written poems:

If you haven't read poemcrazy I highly recommend it!

The Journey

This is a passage from Blessings: Prayers and Declarations for a Heartful Life by Julia Cameron:

WE ARE PRECIOUS JEWELS IN THE CROWN OF SPIRIT

Each of us is unique, valuable, worthy, and irreplaceable. Each of us is kind, wise, knowing, and gifted. Each of us is filled with dignity, gifted with humor, funded with strength. We are met as equals. We bear gifts for each other. Our hearts are true friends, true colleagues. We have a place with each other. We have a need for each other. All of us seek the same answers, although we find them by different routes. All of us hold the same questions although we express them in different ways. Our loving hearts hold the solutions all of us seek. This is a great blessing and indisputable fact. In loving each other, we love the world. In loving each other, we find the world. The world we find is healed by our loving hearts.

I've been on a journey for as long as I can remember. I've been trying to find my own unique way in this world as I seek answers for the questions that have remained throughout this time:

Who am I?

What is my purpose?

I discover a bit more about myself over time and then I realize that there are still so many pieces of the puzzle missing, pieces which have yet to fall into place. I've felt like a nomadic wanderer, lost along the trail of life. I am the lone journeyer, the lone seeker. I fool myself into believing that everyone else has discovered their path, yet I remain alone on my quest. On closer look, I realize that I am not alone.

We are all seekers. We are all hiking our own unique paths searching for the answers to life's great mysteries. So, please, while you are on your path and our paths momentarily cross, take a moment to wave and say hello. I will return the salutation and wish you a safe journey. We shall let our loving hearts heal the world and perhaps remember, every so often, to look within where our answers may already lie.

Hugs,

Holding on to anger is like grasping a hot coal with the intent of throwing it at someone else; you are the one who gets burned.  ~Buddha
