Found Hearts

Okay, so I made this heart but I had to add it!

Far away in the sunshine are my highest aspirations. I may not reach them, but I can look up and see their beauty, believe in them, and try to follow where they lead.  ~Louisa May Alcott

Opening up for the new

Recently I shared how I feel like something’s brewing in my life right now, like I’m about to enter a new phase (Waiting. Patiently.). I’m still not sure of what this “something” is but I know it’s going to be a big change.

Newness generally causes a bit of anxiety. We don’t know what to expect or how to react. Most of the time our fear tells us that change is a bad thing. This isn’t always the case. If we didn’t face change, how else would we evolve? Change allows us to move from one chapter to the next, one stage ending and a new one beginning.

How would a caterpillar become a butterfly if it wasn’t for change?

This is the time to lean into that change and trust that whatever lies ahead for us is even better than what we could ever dream of. I’m open to the new, the scary, the exciting – the next chapter in my life. When it’s ready to unfold, I’ll be here ready too.

What I've Been Up To

I've been working on more artwork inspired by great tutorials seen on the web.

For this one I used Donna Downey's Inspiration Wednesday art journal tutorial:

And another one of Donna's Inspiration Wednesday tutorials:

And her poppy art journal page Inspiration Wednesday tutorial:

I used Christy Tomlinson's Behind the Art: July tutorial as the inspiration for this canvas:

When the heart is willing

When the heart is willing…

To let go of past hurts and breaks…to surrender to the what if…tear down the walls it built to protect you…relinquish control of the possibility of being hurt again…it can then learn to love again.

Bubble Art

Here's a fun idea I came across on this blog for the kiddies - heck, you could do it without the kiddos! I used approximately 3/4 cup of bubble solution to 10 drops each color of McCormick Neon food coloring in disposable cups. We laid out white poster board on the non-slick side and blew our bubbles.
A couple pictures of our colorful bubbles:
A few pictures of the cool patterns left on the paper after the bubbles popped:
I hope you're making the most of your summer!

Dance Like No One Is Watching

These are the rest of the pictures I shot of my son and I at the park last month. Enjoy!

What I've Been Up To

I finally finished My Living Canvas! This was Christy Tomlinson's class that ended a month ago. I worked on the background in July and finally decided on the finished product last night. Here it is:

It's so colorful and so me. Here's a picture of the background that I posted in July (more detailed images here).

I received this birdhouse for Mother's Day with the suggestion to art it up. I finally got around to it this week and this is the result:

I wish I would have taken a before picture because it was pretty as is but I had to make it my own. I love how it turned out.

My latest art journal page:

These are my latest garden rocks. I used stamps, paint, 3D glitter paint, and some Glossy Accents for texture.

Have a great weekend!
