AEDM - Day 18

 Welcome to Day 18 of Art Every Day Month!
Day 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10111213, 14, 15, 16, & 17.


I realized that I have never played with Shrinky Dinks before! I think everyone needs to have fun with them at least once. I picked up a kit from Joann's Fabrics which included 5 sheets of shrinky dink paper. It also came with a few colored pencils so I used them on a few and artist pitt pens on the others. I stamped a Suzi Blu stamp on one of the sheets but my stamp was bigger than the sheet so I only used part of the words from the stamp. I used StazOn ink with the stamps but, as you can tell, the ink ran in a few places. P.S. Don't you just love the smell of black StazOn ink?

I placed a quarter next to my cutouts so you can compare the amount of shrinkage before and after they were baked.



Holy cow! I had no idea just how much these would reduce in size. They're cute and that was some short-lived fun but at least I can now say that I've had the shrinky dink experience.


I picked up a few more packs of polymer clay to make some gift tags for Christmas. See Day 9 for my first project ever with polymer clay. After they were baked and cooled I antiqued them and left them with a natural look

I fell in love with shrinkie dinks about 10 years ago and made pins with them. They are super fun. I haven't played with them for awhile but recently received the most awesome pair of earrings as a gift that inspired me to give it another go. The pins were fun, but no one wears pins much anymore. I like how you are trying different things. That is what I love about AEDM!
